David Hewitson, Fenix Director of Operations, has delivered modules on key aspects of risk management in mine action as part of the mine action senior managers course (SMC) run by the Center for International Stabilization and Recovery (CISR) at James Madison University (JMU), Harrisonburg, Va. The courses provide a welcome and stimulating opportunity to interact with mine action managers from many mine and ERW-affected countries around the world. The topic of risk management, and its fundamental importance to all aspects of explosive ordnance management, is central to everything Fenix does, including in the drafting of the risk management IMAS. Fenix maintains a close relationship with CISR, reflecting many years of cooperation including the Landmine Ageing Study on behalf of PM/WRA.
